Introduction

Introduction

Among a wide variety of advanced materials, polymers offer sophisticated functionality and properties as a new class of materials with infinite possibilities. A polymer, which is defined as a gigantic molecule consisting of more than ten thousands of atoms, can exhibit versatile functionalities depending on the number of jointed atoms, configuration of chains and microscopic structure. Nowadays, (1) nano-technology, (2) bio-technology, (3) information technology and (4) environmental technology become indispensable fields of studies to our life. For example, those techniques have been applied for electronic materials, space aeronautics materials, optics/telecommunication materials, environmental functional materials, advanced fibers and so on. In the department of macromolecular science and engineering, we have fabricated and studied a new class of materials intended for such applications, and performed research and education in order to contribute to the field and society.

Objective of Human Resource Development

Our course aims to educate students who have high-level of sociality such as internationalism, initiative, exact discretion with technical knowledge of polymer science and engineering based on natural science.

Education Program

Our education program for the objectives is based on the following principles:

(1) The program offers standardized means of natural science in order to respond to raid variation of technical innovation and social climate.

(2) The program provides better understanding in terms of the relationship between specialty of each specialized subject and a platform for natural science.

(3) The program places greater emphasis on internationalism, initiative, exact discretion during professional education
